EASY DECOUPAGE TABLE

Glass top tables are attractive enough but they are a pain to keep clean, at least that's what I think! Seems that no matter how much you clean, wipe, dig into the corners, you always end up with glass smears...I know I'm a perfectionist....but those little imperfections bother me!

I had this side table that matched the sofa and armchair in our sunroom, never could get it perfect!
This picture was taken one Christmas which explains the Santa figurine and snow on the ground outside!!!

I found a piece of cardboard that fits the underside of the glass piece perfectly. Grabbed my scrap booking paper, an old book, my box of labels, some pressed leaves, glue and ....
came up with this:

The cardboard piece slides under the glass and is held by the framing of the table.
I may add some old pics too, in time, when I get around to it....ha!!!
Fun, attractive and practical at the same time...
And QUICK!
Hugs,
Mandy

SUMMER VIGNETTES

Before I show you the entire sun room reveal, I wanted to share a couple of smaller projects that I was able to get done in this room.
This lamp used to be a dark color and I painted the base and purchase the barrel shade to give it an updated simple look.
I filled this white bowl with a mix of decorative foam rocks purchased from Target and some green silk hydrangea flower heads, a few artificial artichokes and some shells.
The above white bowl sits inside a very cool wooden palette box I purchased from a local antique dealer. Love the print on the side.
Small photo holders were painted off-white to unify them with each other.....and the little "munchkins" are all mine - all five of them!
Reveal appearing tomorrow :)
Hope you liked the post,
Hugs,

FUN PAINTED OLD CHAIRS!

Hi There!
It has been a while since I last blogged, but please understand I was moving three boys bedrooms around, one den, and one huge craft room that sits above our three car garage.....I will cover more about all that in other post!!!!!

Anyway, here is another project I completed before becoming a blogger addict. We purchased a small cherry dining set right before leaving England from our favorite consignment store over there. The set consisted of four chairs similar to the ones shown here:

And a drop leave table, similar to this one:

One of the chairs didn't survive the move or maybe it was already damaged,  don't know but we only have three left. For this particular situation I only wanted to use two of them. I was painting a bed for one of the boys and in between drying time I decided to have some fun with these chairs. I gathered up my craft paints, my stencils, some crackle finish and brushes and went to work.
Here they are finished and sitting in my sun room:

I purchased the fabric on sale and recovered the chair pads. The zebra fabric goes with the zanny style of the chairs, don't you think?

The chairs are similar but I used different finishes, colors and stencil patterns to give them some ....personality.... that's what I say!
Mr. Giraffe Chair
Mrs Zebra Chair.
I also glued on some decorative buttons I had on hand to "glitz" them up a bit.

Here you can see some of the stencil detail and some of the paint techniques.
I had loads of fun with these two, hope you like them too!

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Mandy

SUN ROOM ON A SNOWY DAY

Thought I'd show you some pics of my sun room. The sky is gray but at least this is a sunny corner.....
I recently recovered the ottoman with the zebra print...lurv it! and the the chair pad I hot glued the fabric on....it's holding up fine, just added some trim on the not so pretty edges! Sorry about the white lamp cord...gotta remember those little details....the pillow to the far right is made from a mini skirt a client of mine didn't want anymore.

I love my flower picture frames....note another birdie nest in the topiary...
Here is my little cafe area. I painted the chairs back in October. I will talk more about these soon. The windows are never closed but I like how they give this area an outdoor feel.
Here is the top of the driveway...see told you it was a gray day!!!

Have a warm and cozy day!
