A TONED DOWN CHRISTMAS

A toned down Christmas....

Now I know, a toned down Christmas sounds sort of wrong somehow... but this year after spending a lot of time and effort toning down our entire house decor in order to help depersonalize and create a "cleaner look" to help sell it, the last thing I wanted to do was overload everything with Christmas decor.

I also wanted to dig through all the Christmas decorations and sort out what I wanted to keep and what I did not. This process actually slowed me down quite a bit.... but I finally got done and really like the new look.

"I'll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas...." is the song that plays in the living room:
The dining room is soft and sentimental
The kitchen is simple in red, green and white.
The hallways brings peace on earth.
And the outside sports fresh evergreens!
I will highlight each room over the next couple of weeks if you can bare to see another decorated space!

Hugs,
Mandy

  3. Very pretty! Love the tray with the ornaments and the cloche with the olde fashioned carolers! Your hallway presentation is fab! Great job overall! Good luck with the sale! My sister is in the same boat! Hard to decorate and keep it simple and did and not overdone.

  4. I love the simplicity of everything. An over-done decorating scheme is not for me either. Visiting from Inspiration Friday- At the Picket Fence.

  6. This "toned down" look is really awesome! You can see more of the warmth and beauty of the house and the decorations you did use, just make it a little better.

  7. Hi, Mandy! SOLD!!! I'd buy your house if I was in the market for another one! You have some beautiful spaces there, and I LOVE your stove area with the brick arch. I like the idea of a toned down Christmas. I did the same this year, but not for the same reason. It was just tough for me to get in the spirit and get my rear end movin' on it! I accomplished in a few days something that I am very happy with, but I wish I would have gotten started earlier so that we could have enjoyed it longer. Oh, well...!!! :-) Good luck on your house selling, and Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  9. I love the idea of a toned down Christmas . . . I'm doing the same this year. Normally I have decor in every room and lights and garlands outside, including handmade cedar garlands, but this year keeping it simple sounds great.
    Merry Christmas!
